It’s come to my attention that many of my auto-media competitors are doing paid-ticket contests as an additional source of income. “New Lamps for Old” is from the Middle-Eastern folk tale Aladdin. Also known as Aladdin and the Magic Lamp. The wicked Sorcerer tricks Aladdin’s wife into handing over the magic lamp by impersonating a street peddler hawking “New Lamps for Old.” “New Lamps for Old” is also a very fine track from Procol Harum’s 1974 album Exotic Birds and Fruit.

So, here’s the deal. I will go the evil Sorcerer one better. Some randomly-chosen Avoidable Contact subscriber will get a shiny new pair of handsome loudspeakers, but without having to trade in his old pair! How do you like them apples?
