Klockau Goes Cadillac
This could have been just another late model road test, thanks to the friendly folks at McLaughlin Motors.
Except this time, I bought it!
Most of you are no doubt familiar with my recent set of wheels, a 2017 Lincoln MKZ. And it was a fine car. But even before I bought it I was looking for a nice Cadillac XTS.
I'd driven several new and really liked them. And when GM ended production in 2019 to focus on manufacturing lot poison, I wanted one more.
But all the ones that came in were either worn, unpleasant color combinations like silver with black interior, or high mileage examples. Until last week.
A 2019 XTS Luxury in Stone Gray (in bright sunlight it has a dark green hue that I love) with cream leather, Bose stereo, heated and cooled seats and other goodies, it had only 50k on the clock.
I drove it last Friday and loved it. And OCD me could not find a single ding, chip or other mark on the whole thing. So I made arrangements with my salesman friend Brian to bring in the MKZ the following Monday and at least run the numbers.
The numbers worked for me, and I picked up the car Tuesday evening. It is so smooth and quiet, and noticeably roomier than the MKZ. I’d say it’s about halfway in between the size of the MKZ and my 2004 Town Car.
I’ll miss the MKZ's consistent 38-40 mpg, but am loving the Caddy. And I’d take this car over a 2026 CT5 built to my color and option choices. It is much more “Cadillacy,” and I can’t wait to take it on a trip. Best of all, no stupid 2.0 liter turbo that needs freaking premium fuel, ha ha.
It’s basically the last Sedan de Ville. I plan on enjoying it immensely.

Great car, great colors, amazing condition. Salute 🫡
Just thrilled to see this.
