Alpha,IL car show: Something for everyone!
This past Saturday I had a quandary. Car show in Alpha, Illinois or car show in Hannibal, Missouri?
Both were the same day: the day before Mother's Day. And both were excellent shows.
But Alpha was much closer, say, 30 minutes away, while Hannibal was at least an hour and a half, maybe closer to 2.
What cinched the deal was my friend Jessica Grissom was going to be in Alpha that day, and said she wouldn’t mind going.
Plus I don’t mind putting fewer miles on the Caddy. So to Alpha I went!
In previous years I’d seen a gorgeous triple white ‘75 Caprice Classic convertible and black ‘63 Caddy.
While they did not appear at the ‘26 event, there were still some seriously nice cars, like this mint green ‘59 Edsel!
Or how about a 2000 Boxster in navy blue with red leather?
Blue with red is not common. But it looked good to your author!
Equally nice was this coppertone ‘69 GTX convertible.
And this ‘67 GTX with factory A/C!
And for the trifecta, a Road Runner.
This ‘62 Corvair Monza was awesome too.
There was even a Gremlin!
Later I met Jessica and a friend of hers at City Limits in Viola, where we had recuperative alcoholic beverages.
They have an excellent bacon cheeseburger too.
And of course I geeked out when I saw this triple burgundy ‘84 Park Avenue a block from the bar and grill!
all in all, a good show, fine food and excellent company. Until next time!

I don’t think we’re getting car show season this spring. Currently on track to be the second rainiest year since 2011. I just fabbed up a snorkel for my push mower.
Nice pics. I've always been intrigued by Corvairs, but never pulled the trigger and bought one. I'd call it "America's attempt at a 911," except the Corvair came first.
That '71 Road Runner is beautiful too.
