Weekly Roundup: The Undefeated Season Edition
Looking back, Spike the Accord was too good, too soon. After lapping the field in my first few NASA Honda Challenge races this year, I never again faced any proper competition. I set the lap record at Mid-Ohio and came close-ish at NCM. Seven starts, seven wins. And that's how I became the 2018 Great Lakes Region Honda Challenge Champion.
I have different plans for next year, plans that will probably see me in the middle of a pack instead of running away from one. Until then, check out last week's articles, and enjoy this weekend's highly dramatic race starts...
Here's the first start. I'm behind the ST4 group. They're faster than I am, mostly thanks to running Hoosier tires instead of the abysmal Toyo Proxes RR enforced in Honda Challenge, but I snag a few spots at the beginning and end up finishing near the top of the race overall.
Race 2 was the same story, only with extra drama from a spinning car.
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that my wife, the infamous Danger Girl, won 2 of her 3 races this weekend in the Super Touring 5 class. She also ran half of a 45-minute rain race on BFG MX-5 Cup slicks. Needless to say, I was a bit nervous watching the race but she brought it home in fine fashion, picking up the win in class and 7 spots overall.
Alright, let's get to the words and stuff. At R&T, I wrote about car salespeople and car enthusiasm. My stereo article from the print edition was also released on the Web this week. Please Share And Enjoy!
