I was happy enough with my 73 T-Bird and 79 Mark V de-customizations that last week I decided to redo this Eldorado convertible.
I prefer factory stock but back when I ordered the red Thunderbird I decided to get one of these 76 Eldos too, just for the heck of it. It was in the same Greenlight lowrider series as the ‘Bird.
While it didn’t have any graphics, it did have giant gold wheels with rubber band tires. And everything that normally would be chromed was matte gold.
I promptly forgot all about it until recently when it occurred to me that I had leftover Cadillac wheels from the customization set.
Just swapping the wheels and tires made it look 1000% better. Though I did have a slight problem.
When I was in the garage drilling out the rivets, I dropped the damn thing. While I was shocked at no paint chips, I did notice one of the vertical front fender blades was missing. A tiny gold toned piece, approximately 1 mm wide and maybe 4 mm tall.
Though I did give the floor a cursory glance, I knew I'd never find it in a million years. So I cut down a toothpick, glued it in place, painted it with the chrome pen, then painted the driver’s side blade to match.
When that had all dried, I also chromed the door handles, door locks, rocker trim, and windshield frame.
I left the bumpers, grille, side molding and emblems alone, since they had tiny details I’d have a hard time replicating.
But I'm happy with it, and it looks good “parked” amongst its brethren.
Nice car! Got to drive my brother's full size version around the block once, in Milwaukee. Wish he would had more time that day it was an excellent automobile.
100 % better .
I really like the last picture with all those other models in the background .
