Oklahoma!

I apologize for the lack of updates. This past week has been an all-hands-on-deck effort to wrap up a bunch of writing and projects so I could head to Oklahoma for a long weekend.

A friend of mine suggested that I make Hallett the sixty-second North American track configuration I've driven --- whoa, that's a lot of tracks, or at least a lot of track configurations! --- by coaching with the "Xtreme Xperience" supercar trackday rental people from Thursday morning through Sunday afternoon. Incidentally, these were also Days 206 through 209 of my on-track career, by my best calculations. At this rate, I should have no trouble covering a full year's worth of days on a racetrack by the time I die from colorectal cancer or whatever.
While it was financially imprudent to take a "professional" coaching engagement where the cost of airfare, lodging, and missed work was some considerable multiple of what I was paid, I thought that it would be useful to be on the sharp end of the trackday instructing profession for a few days. It was fascinating and I met something like eighty students over the course of thirty-two hours. I drove a bunch of late-model supercars as well, doing "ride-alongs" for a bunch of pretty brave twelve-year-olds and wives and whatnot.
There will be a few articles coming out in a week or so as a result of the experience, and I'll link them when they're up. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to sleep for a couple of minutes. I need to leave my hotel at 2AM to make my flight!
