As the weather has been warming, I’ve been getting back to my Mini Me diecast work--in between car shows and that pesky office, ha ha.
Greenlight recently released the 1974 Eldorado from the movie True Romance. I immediately took one apart to get rid of the leopard print dash.
Dash and carpet were redone in black. Even got those tiny disposable foam brushes and added the faux wood to the dash and steering wheel hub.
I was also extremely pleased to find the new Matchbox ‘64 Continental.
I immediately took one apart and added red dash and carpet, and chromed the side mirror, windshield and backlite trim, rear trunk accent and wipers with a Molotow pen. I’m thinking of doing a replica of the one from Goldfinger next--navy blue with matching interior.
Auto World recently did a 1970 Kingswood Estate. I loved it in Misty Turquoise but hated the black interior.
So I got a little glass bottle of Testors gloss turquoise and fixed it.
And while I was at it I took the same paint and added a turquoise interior to one of my ‘86 240s and detailed it as well.
The results were nice. Wasnt sure it would work with the metallic blue paint but it did. Kind of a Miami Vice era vibe.
And just last night I finished the ‘66 Charger with a green and white interior, it was originally black. Boring!
Next victim is the all new '77 Jaguar XJ6 C by Matchbox. Going to keep it blue but add blue and white interior. And a second one in that ‘70s Jaguar apple green with green interior and black top!
They’re all wonderful and my favourite is the Continental. It is regal.
Nice! Got the True Romance Eldo but like the leopard print.
