the first cut is the weakest

This obsessive little journey started just fifteen days ago — and I’m still waiting on several different kinds of blades to arrive from different suppliers, but I figured we would kick off Part One anyway.

Today we’re going to do baseline sharpness testing on a PT50B tester, The manufacturer provides this scale for reference:

Here are the contenders:

There are two special guests: my new Chris Reeve Sebenza 31, bought used but mint-in-box on the secondary market, and my original “ACTIFED” cutting tool from 1989. Like the old Car and Driver tests, we will start with last place.
