Knowing Many, Loving None
It's definitely time to replace the speakers in my PA... but why did Samson make an "all-in-one" system where the amp is capable of blowing the speakers? Doesn't that seem weird?
Anyway, here's the P22.

I bought this sight unseen when Musicians Friend was absolutely blowing them out a few weeks ago. This has been a big couple of weeks for PRS fans as the MF/GC axis liquidates all their high-end PRS stuff. From now on, Guitar Center won't be carrying the $2999-$4999 PRS "Core" stuff. It will be just the SE (Korean) junk, the S2 guitars that have Maryland construction but "overseas" electronics, and possibly the occasional Private Stock in the Hollywood Platinum Room.
In any event, conventional wisdom is that when you buy guitars online you get the worst of the available wood, but this wasn't the case here. This quilt top is fairly stunning and the back is a gorgeous and very light single piece of mahogany. As you can hear in the video, it sustains very well and the tone is brilliant, even if the playing isn't.
About the playing: Afterwards I realized that I think I'm playing "Melissa" wrong. At least the pre-chorus. Oh well. The video is worth what you're paying for it. The basic idea behind the P22 has been done by Godin since time immemorial --- I have two Godin LGX-SAs and an LGXT, all of which add Roland VG capabilities to the P22's piezo-and-magnetic blend --- but this is an exceptional way to execute it. I'm quite smitten by my P22 and am looking forward to playing it all over the house the world.
Oh yeah, one more thing: This is as fat as I plan to get post-accident. I had to eat like a Tyrannosaurus in order to heal nine fractures and get back to work in a hurry, but since everything but the ribs feels pretty good I'm going to work on not being such a human tank. We'll see how it goes.
