My trip to Houston wasn't entirely unproductive... I managed to work a deal on another Private Stock.

Experienced PRS cork-sniffers (I know you're out there, I can hear you talking about Perambuco) will recognize a few things that separates this one from the run-of-the-mill Private Stocks, if there's such a thing. Actually, if there is such a thing as a run-of-the-mill Private Stock, my #3372 Signature in Charcoal is probably it... only the Mammoth and paua heart Modern Eagle birds are "special".
Anyway, this one has a hugely figured Koa top --- becoming a rarity now because Hawaii isn't permitting any more harvesting --- with a Koa veneer for the headstock. More interestingly, it has the Celtic knot inlays. They aren't super-rare. I'm guessing that a couple hundred PRSi have them. Some of the more interesting examples can be seen in the Celtic Knot thread.
Those inlays are now limited to "Collection" instruments. I'm planning on eventually becoming the owner of a Collection V but they are $15,000 and not getting any cheaper in the used market at the moment. So no Collection for me; I'd have to liquidate two Private Stocks to make that happen and I don't want it that badly. This DGT, therefore, fills the Celtic-knot space in my inventory at an amazing savings!
My brother notes that "you can't really rock with a PRS." He might be right. But there's something hugely satisfying about playing one anyway. And besides, I don't look cool playing anything. Why not be happy?
