Housekeeping: There's A Scammer Out There
Please read, thanks -- jb
Someone is trying to scam my readers out of money for books and subscriptions, using the “avoidablecontact1” account.
It’s not me. But if one of you brilliant troublemakers wants to do a little Kevin Mitnick on the person and figure out how I might be able to have the pleasure of meeting him in person, then you will be permanently in my debt.
Since the book came out, I’ve been targeted pretty aggressively by various scammers and people trying to exploit me — the funniest one so far was a fairly convincing imitation of a Black women’s book club that was desperately interested in getting copies of the book, along with a modest fee! — but I’m thinking this is probably some frustrated autowriter.
Now, if you happen to be the person behind this account, whomever you might be, I want to reiterate my usual invitation, which is: I value every reader and I would love to meet you so you can explain your issues with me and we can resolve them to everyone’s satisfaction. Life is too short to be an utter coward all the time. Thank you!

Well, that explains today’s new follower on my account!
There are more scams in writing than in any other industry. Welcome to my world.
