Childhood Dreams Fulfilled, One Rustbucket At A Time

This one's for my teenaged self, the one who rode his bicycle twelve rather frightening round-trip miles to the Porsche+Audi shop just to look at a Silver Rose 944 Turbo S.
This coming November I'll be racing a 944 Turbo in yet another low-buck event. The team is full of good people who understand the car and want it to perform competitively in what will be its debut race. I doubt we'll have the pace or reliability to show near the top --- these cars have a lot of bugs and it takes a lot of debugging to get them right --- but the prospect of actually taking a green flag in one of my childhood dream cars is too powerful a lure to resist.
My experience as a 944 owner was more notable for unexpected expenses than for outright joy but as an arrive-and-driver I should be spared all the heartache. It will be like dating a difficult, tempestuous woman who is married to someone else. That's a particular joy I've sworn off nowadays so this substitute will do nicely.
